Lifetime Bay Area resident and frequent world traveller, Madeline Velasco, passed away on the evening of July 6th to reunite with her dearly departed daughter, Christina Velasco. She is survived by her husband, Paul Velasco; daughter Michelle DeSanctis; granddaughter, Gia DeSanctis; son-in-law, Julio DeSanctis; sister, Joanne Harris; brother-in-law, John Harris; and sister-in cousin Sharon Sommer. She is also leaving behind a multitude of close cousins, nieces, nephews, and old friends and neighbors, who will long remember her.
Raised in the Sunset District neighborhood of San Francisco, she attended South San Francisco High School, Class of 1965, and San Francisco State University with a BA in Social Work.
She and Paul raised their family in Daly City before spending their retirement years in San Bruno. She spent many years working for Catholic Charities and volunteering for various organizations.
A lover of San Francisco history and culture, you could often find Madeline dining alongside her husband and family at any one of the Bay Area's iconic restaurants and hotels, or taking in a show in the theatre district. She loved movies and music and was always planning another trip to a far-off place.
Services will be held on Friday, July 11th at 11 am at Eternal Home Cemetery, followed by a gathering for family and friends at the home located in San Bruno.
