Samuel J. Salkin
Sam is Sinai’s executive director, a position he has held since 2010. Sam has extensive managerial and leadership experience in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. He received his B.S. and M.S. from Cornell University and is a licensed funeral director.
Daniel is the General Manager of Sinai. He has been in the nonprofit sector of the industry for over 30 years.
He has an MBA from Pepperdine University, Bachelors of Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and is trained and
certified from the International Cemetery Crematory Funeral Association University. He has experience in all levels
of Cemetery Management and Leadership. He has been active in State and International Associations holding Board of Director positions.
Jim is a managing funeral director at Sinai. He joined Sinai in 2013 and is the second generation of his family to be a funeral director and embalmer. He is active in promoting “safe and sober” high schools. Jim is a graduate of San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.
Jay A. Lewis
Jay is a managing funeral director at Sinai and manager of Gan Shalom Cemetery. He joined Sinai in 2011 and is the fourth generation of his family to be a funeral director He is active in the Chevra Kadisha Consortium of the East Bay. He graduated from Miami-Dade College with a degree in mortuary science.
Robert T. Perez
Robert is operations manager at Sinai and is a licensed funeral director and embalmer. He has worked at Sinai since 2011. He is a graduate of San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.
Funeral Arrangement and Counseling Staff
Josh is a licensed funeral director at Sinai, where he has worked since 2011. He represents the fourth generation of his family to work in his chosen profession. Josh is a graduate of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service.
Todd A. Forbes
Todd is a licensed embalmer and funeral director, having joined Sinai's Lafayette office in 2016. Todd is a graduate of Cypress College of Mortuary Science. He is a former Board Member of the California Funeral Directors’ Association and has been an active member of a number of community service organizations.
Javier Garcia is a licensed embalmer and funeral director at Sinai, having joined the staff in 2014. He is a graduate of the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.
David Habib is a licensed funeral director. He began working at Sinai in 2005. David is fluent in both Hebrew and French.
Roger is a licensed funeral director, having worked at several funeral homes and cemeteries in the East Bay since 2004.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Management from St. Mary's College and works at Sinai's Lafayette facility.
Elka, a New York City native, began her funeral service at Greenwich Village Funeral Home in New York in 2009. She attended LaGuardia Community College, majoring in Mortuary Science, and is a graduate of American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service, with an Associates of Science degree in Mortuary Science. She works at Sinai’s San Francisco facility.
Kiet Van has been with Sinai since 2008. He is a licensed funeral arranger in Sinai’s Redwood City office. Kiet is a graduate of UC Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Business Management Economics.
Lisa is the office manager at Eternal Home Cemetery, a position she has held for ten years. She is the fourth generation of her family to serve in various capacities at the cemetery, going back to her great grandfather, who started working there in 1936. Her work includes helping people interested in genealogy explore handwritten records of burials at Eternal Home going back to 1901.
Cathie Cline Sheldon
Cathie is the cemetery counselor at Gan Shalom Cemetery, where she has worked for six years. She assists families in understanding their options and works with them in purchasing plots, planning burials, and designing memorial markers.
Cheryl is the co-coordinator of Sinai Memorial Chapel’s Mourner Care Program, having joined Sinai in 2006. She is a licensed Professional Clinical Counselor as well as a creative arts therapist. She is the artistic director of the Moving On Dance™ Project, sponsored by Sinai, and is active in several professional associations in her field of work. She received a B.A from Queens College of the City University of New York and a master’s degree from Hahnemann Medical College.
Debra has been a counselor in various capacities for over ten years, working with the homeless, middle school students, veterans, and people receiving hospice care. She is now a grief counselor at Sinai while maintaining a private practice. She received her B.A. at UC Davis and her M.A. in clinical psychology from John F. Kennedy University.
Gloria joined Sinai's Mourner Care Program as a bereavement counselor in 2016. She maintains a private practice in San Francisco, and, through the AIDS Health Project and the Women's Cancer Resource Center, provides hospice care and support to those living with chronic illness. She received a B.A. from SUNY Binghamton in English Literature and Women’s Studies, an M.A. in psychology from New College of California, and an M.F.A. in creative writing from USF.
