Marcia Faye (Weidler) Abend, 94, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, peacefully at home with her family: Hugh, Rona and Jacob by her side in Concord, California. She was born on November 11, 1928 to Rebecca and William Weidler, z"l. Marcia grew up in San Francisco, graduating from George Washington High School majoring in music and drama. She then attended City College of San Francisco where she received an AA in Drama. There she was a proud member of Delta Psi where she made lifelong friends.
Upon graduation Marcia worked for various jobs such as at KTUV where she produced a TV show, an Ad Agency and San Francisco State in the office of Creative Arts Department. Upon marrying her husband, William, she helped him start and grow his architectural business and managed their properties.
Marcia served as the VP of the Commodore Sloat Parents/Faculty Board and Bay Area Conformation Committee representing San Francisco's Congregation Sherith Israel. She was a proud member of the Bells, an auxiliary group for San Francisco's Saint Mary's Hospital, a member of Hadassah, the YMCA, and an active member of the Sisterhood at Congregation Sherith Israel. She also was an avid supporter and activist of various local and national political campaigns.
Marcia was an avid reader and belonged to many book clubs where she enjoyed trading books with family and friends. She was a diehard Warriors, 49'ers and Giants sports fan. She loved attending the symphony, ballet, and theater.
Marcia and William loved to travel together. They went on many wonderful trips throughout the United States and Europe, always returning home after meeting incredible people along the way.
Marcia is survived by her daughter Rona-Alyse Alison Abend Reynolds and Son-in-law Hugh Oliver Reynolds of Concord, California, Wendee Lee Karp of Odgen, Utah; and her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Maurice Abend, z"l; sisters, Julian Weidler, z"l and Leona Weidler Spinrad, z"l. She is survived by many wonderful caring nieces, nephews, cousins and her wonderful caregiver Sharon Lee.
