David M. Ash, of Napa, CA, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on December 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 28, 1942 in Scranton, PA, to Samuel and Evelyn Ash. David graduated from Scranton's Central High School in 1957 before earning a B.S. in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.
David is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Carol L. Ash; his children, Darren B. Ash (Melissa) and Ronald A. Ash (Jennifer); his beloved grandchildren, Samuel, Emma, Ray, and Max; and many adoring cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Lois Wheat. David was deeply grateful for the selfless gift of life from his loving wife, Carol, who donated her kidney to him, allowing them an additional twenty-two priceless years together.
David was a well-respected pharmacist in Richmond, Pinole, and Napa for over 50 years. An avid wine connoisseur, he enjoyed exploring and tasting wines both locally and around the world. He had the honor of serving for the last twelve years as a Senior Volunteer with the California Highway Patrol, where he eagerly looked forward to his Wednesday patrols.
David will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9th, at Ner Tamid, St. Helena Public Cemetery, 2461 Spring St., St. Helena. Following the service, family and friends are invited to the Ash residence to share memories and raise a toast in David's honor.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that donations be made to the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation or the National Kidney Registry.
