Judith Nancy Horwitz Schaefer died peacefully on July 31, 2018 at Schon Hyme Rest Home in San Rafael. Born on January 20th, 1942 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Judy is survived by her sons, Ari Efrem Schaefer of San Rafael and Jonas James Schaefer of Belvedere, as well as her Granddaughter, Jacqueline Amaris Schaefer and daughter-in-law, Julianne Malnick Schaefer. She is survived by her brother, James Alex Horwitz of New York, NY.

Judy was a lively, caring, warm, funny, creative person who was beloved by many from all walks of life. A sharp wit, beautiful smile and piercing blue eyes, she was a devoted mother, daughter, and sister and friend to many. Judy graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a degree in integrated liberal studies, spent a semester in Florence, Italy and earned a masters in clinical psychology from the John F. Kennedy School in Orinda, CA.

Judy opened the only all Oshkosh B'Gosh store in the United States in San Rafael, CA...Wear With All in the 1980s and was an independent filmmaker who made a documentary, Samuel Ullman's Youth, which premiered around the Country at independent film festivals including the Mill Valley Film Festival and San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. She loved all forms of art and collected art from all over the world. Her favorite holiday was Valentine's Day and she was known for her parties.

She will be missed by many but remembered as she was, a vibrant, vivacious person. In the end, she suffered from Alzheimer's Disease and died surrounded by her family.
