Resident of San Jose

Werner Cohn passed away peacefully at the age of 94. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Rosa Cohn, after 62 years of marriage. He is survived by daughter Irene Weiss (and Dr. Steven Weiss), son Peter Cohn, granddaughters Dr. Leah Chernin (and Ethan Chernin), Julia Taxin (and Brett Taxin), Dr. Mara DiBartolomeo (and Dr. Domenic DiBartolomeo) and grandson Dr. Max Weiss (and Dr. Marissa Weiss) and great-grandchildren Noah Chernin, Oliver Chernin, Madeline Chernin, Micah Taxin, Oscar Taxin and Louie DiBartolomeo. Werner was born in Chemnitz, Germany and attended Gymnasium at Stenhus Kostskole in Copenhagen, Denmark. He escaped to Sweden during WWII and settled in Denmark after the war. Werner studied at the Technical University in Copenhagen and earned a Master's Degree in Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. The family moved to Pennsylvania and then to the Almaden Valley in 1968. Werner was an avid skier and a supporter of Opera San Jose and the San Jose Museum of Art. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Congregation Shir Hadash, 20 Cherry Blossom Lane, Los Gatos on Friday, April 14th at 1:00 P.M. Donations may be made in Werner's memory to Opera San Jose, The San Jose Museum of Art or the charity of your choice .
