Bob died peacefully at home in Foster City on April 16, 2017. He was the loving husband of Susan for 41 years. In addition to Susan, he is survived by siblings Laurence (Laurie) May and Nancy Samovar; brother-in-law Andrew (Suzy) Colvin; niece Jessica (Carl) Gold; nephews Aaron May, Mathew (Jessica) Colvin and Michael Colvin; and three great nephews, Max Gold and Lev and Shai Colvin.

Bob was born in San Francisco in 1946 and grew up in Hillsborough. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and received a Masters in Arts of Teaching from College of Notre Dame and a Masters in Business Administration from Golden Gate University. As a lifelong learner, he started his career as a middle school teacher in Foster City and later transitioned to technical writing, recently retiring from Oracle.

Susan and Bob first met in Kindergarten at Alamo School; after a 20 year hiatus, they reconnected as a couple and became lifelong friends and partners. A modern day Renaissance man, Bob loved painting, photography, music, theater, traveling, public speaking, reading and writing. Bob will always be remembered for his immense creativity, quick wit and keen sense of humor.
