Bette passed away in San Francisco on August 7, 2018, at the age of 97. Wife of Murray for 58 years who predeceased her; loving mother of Terry (Linda) and Dana; devoted grandmother of Yofi (Kristin), Simon and Sebastian; great grandmother of Rio and Silvan; dear aunt of Gary Swartzburg.
Her last few weeks were difficult and she succumbed to pneumonia. She was surrounded by her immediate family and friends during her last days. She was a generous person to all the people that were lucky enough to know her and always had the best smile to lift your spirits. As an expert seamstress and upholsterer, she would make her own clothes and recover her furniture. One of the best dishes she would make for dinner was teriyaki chicken and cioppino that were a big favorite at the Weinberg house. She enjoyed going to Sonoma with her husband Murray every weekend to their country house to barbecue and drink Sabastiani red wine. Terry and Dana would join them until they got older. Granddaughter Yofi would also go there and go swimming at Crystal Springs Reservoir. Bette worked for the San Francisco Unified School District for years teaching reading to students with disabilities. She also worked for the Army selling Kaiser health insurance in the San Francisco Presidio.
