Esther Shirley LaPedis (née Schwartz), 76, died on May 8, 2016 in Santa Clara, California. Born on May 24, 1939 in San Francisco, where she grew up. She lived and raised her family in Daly City for 39 years, and spent the last 14 years in San Mateo.
Beloved daughter of the late Mark and Gertrude Schwartz. Loving sister of the late Bob Schwartz. Devoted wife of Bernard LaPedis for 56 years. Dear mother of Michyle LaPedis (Karim Lazrak), Steve LaPedis, & Jack (Stephanie) LaPedis. Caring grandmother of Gabriel Lazrak, Zachary & Emerson LaPedis, and Sarah & Ryan LaPedis. She was also a loyal friend and a central hub of Bay Area Jewish Geography (she could establish instant connections when meeting people for the first time).
In addition to caring for her family and home, she was a legal, business and elementary school secretary, PTA officer, Girl Scout Troop Leader, Cub Scout Den Leader, part-time college student, school sports team mom and van driver. She was devoted to leading her George Washington High School (SF) class reunion committee for 40 years. She loved to talk and tell stories, eat good food, travel and spend time with her family and friends.
Services will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016, at noon at Congregation Beth Israel-Judea, San Francisco. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the charity of your choice.
